My Boo
Fall 2020 • Advanced Typography • Words in Motion HTML/CSS
This words-in-motion project was assigned in a visual communication class. The assignment was to create a website based on song lyrics or a poem. The aim was to practice using HTML and CSS to design something cohesive, and interactive. Above is a video demonstration of the final project.
I drew a storyboard based on the song "My Boo" by Ghost Town DJ's. My goal was to transform this upbeat R&B song into something spooky. I wanted to create everything using my own assets, so I hand-drew everything in my sketchbook. I then converted the images into SVG files in Illustrator and implemented them into the website.
My final design is black with grayscale tones and red accents. There are also sound effects and music to accompany the visuals. The last page of the site is a winged wraith flying across the screen with the original song playing and people dancing on the TV to convey a cryptic sentiment.
